Gala Awards Night – Saturday 25th of November

The Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Mid West CCI) is the voice for ALL business in the region. We are proud to host these premier awards to that celebrate and recognise the achievements of our Mid West business community.

The 27th Business Excellence Award Ceremony will take place on the 25th of November 2023


With over 475 deserving recipients since 1996, the Mid West CCI’s Business Excellence Awards (BEA) has helped local businesses secure a level of credibility and acknowledgment within our business community, enabling more business to connect with opportunities.

The BEA comprises of various Award levels, acknowledging excellence in business growth, innovation customer experience, philanthropic ideals, and ethical behavior.

The BEA bring together stakeholders from across the Mid West region and the State, with representatives from small business to the corporate sector.

Business Awards

Will your business be in the spotlight this year? This award recognises a business that has achieved outstanding results, business performance, management and demonstrates all-round excellence in business. To be eligible, businesses need to have won an industry award category to be considered for this feature award.

This award takes into account all business award categories and is awarded to a business considered an “all-rounder” with superior performance and business excellence in all aspects.

Please note that entrants cannot directly nominate for this award. The winner of this award is selected from the Business Excellence Category winners.

This is for newcomers (a minimum of 12 months, but less than 3 years in operation) that are starting out but are already making a huge impact. This award recognises businesses that might just be at the beginning, but they know their stuff. Applicants should have a solid business and business plan, offer a unique product and/or service and have been developed as a result of an identified gap in a market.
Applicants should highlight their innovative, unique and strong business practices and how these enhance the businesses continued growth.

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• The business must have been trading for at least one financial year and no more than three years at time of application.
• Businesses who have been trading for less than 12 months are not eligible to enter.

Overview:

For businesses punching above their weight, our small businesses are the heartbeat of the Mid West business community. This award recognises established small businesses that continue to grow, support staff and truly connect with customers. The business must employ fewer than five staff members (full-time or equivalent) at the time of your entering your local awards.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
    • The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.
    • The business must employ five or fewer staff members (full-time or equivalent) at the time of your entering your local awards.

 

This Award recognises a business that has effectively driven growth and is able to demonstrate the specific strategies implemented to achieve business success and/or resilience. Entrants are required to demonstrate their achievements over the past 12 months across the key area of business excellence. This category is open to businesses with 6 to 15 full time employees at the time of entry, who have been trading for a continuous period of three years or more.

Entry Criteria

  • • To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
    • The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.
    • The business must employ between 6 & 15 staff members (full-time or equivalent) at the time of your entering.

This Award recognises a business that has effectively driven growth and is able to demonstrate the specific strategies implemented to achieve business success and/or resilience. Entrants are required to demonstrate their achievements over the past 12 months across the key area of business excellence. This category is open to businesses with 16 or more employees at the time of entry, who have been trading for a continuous period of three years or more.

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.
• The business must employ sixteen or more staff members (full-time or equivalent) at the time of your entering.

This award goes to the best Aboriginal-led, owned, and operated business in the Mid West. To be eligible for this category, the organisation must be currently 51% run and owned by Aboriginal people. This award is to recognise the leadership, contribution and impact Indigenous businesses are creating in the Mid West.

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• The business must have been trading for a minimum of one financial year
• The business must be at least 51% owned by Aboriginal people

This award goes to an organisation that employs Aboriginal people and has supportive relationships with Aboriginal people, their businesses, and communities. This award is to highlight an organisation who has above and beyond in employment, traineeship, business culture and collaborative, supportive relationships with Aboriginal people, their businesses and communities.

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.

Overview:

Traineeships and apprenticeships are some of the most beneficial and rewarding pathways an employee can integrate and move up and through their career. These are usually run over many years, and it is those businesses who support apprentices all the way through, either through their programming structure or business culture that really creates one of the best ways to prepare local people for work; enable regional businesses to build the skills they need to their standards; and put people onto successful career pathways.

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.
• The business must employ, support, and encourage training through an apprenticeship, internship and or traineeships.

This award recognises a not-for-profit organisation or charity in the Mid West Region that, over the past 12 months, has delivered strong, community-based initiatives that positively impacts on, and delivers long-term benefits for the community.

These organisations may operate social enterprises, deliver social services and/or undertake charitable work and exist for educational, charitable, or social reasons and from which its shareholders, owners or trustees do not benefit financially from its activities.

The winning organisation of this award will demonstrate the implementation and use of innovative practices and approaches to meet community and public service objectives.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
  • Your business needs to be registered as a Not for Profit.
  • The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.

The be-all and end-all. This award recognises businesses that go above and beyond for their customer, have displayed initiative and innovation, drive repeat business, measure customer satisfaction and have found new ways to reward customers. Applicants for this category can come from any industry sector but should display an exceptional understanding of customer service with proven results and must be able to provide examples.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
  • The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.

This award recognises tourism operators who provide a unique or exceptional visitor experience. Adding value and vibrancy toward the Mid West tourism industry and showcasing our region.

This business must be able to demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent customer service within the tourism industry. The award is to recognise their dedication to regional awareness, economy, development and local knowledge.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
  • The business must have been trading for a minimum of three years.

This newly introduced award recognises a business that demonstrates excellence in food and/or beverage manufacturing. This business will be able to demonstrate their commitment to value adding to raw agricultural input(s) (eg. food and beverage product manufacturing), with the output being a uniquely branded and packaged Mid West WA food or beverage product for consumption. This Award will also recognise a business that showcases a commitment to sustainability in their product manufacturing process, packaging and waste management, along with being able to identify the provenance of their raw agricultural input ingredients. Applicants should have a solid business plan, be able to explain the market the reach of their product, and identify their future plans and aspirations.

Entry Criteria

• Your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• Your business must have been trading for at least one full financial year.
• The food or beverage manufacturing process must be undertaken in the Mid West Region.
• You must be able to identify the source(s) of your raw agricultural input ingredients.

This award recognises innovation in one or more of the below:

  • Product innovation: A good or service that is new or significantly improved.  This includes significant improvements in technical specifications, components and materials, software in the product, user friendliness or other functional characteristics.
  • Process Innovation: A new or significantly improved production or delivery method.  This includes significant changes in techniques, equipment and/or software.
  • Marketing innovation: A new marketing method involving significant changes in product design or packaging, product placement, product promotion or pricing

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• The business must have been trading for a minimum of one full financial year.

With over 3.75 billion people with social media accounts, if your business isn’t on social media, you’re missing out.
This award is for those organisations who have achieved excellence and success from innovative and effective use of social media in their business and demonstrated the strategic power that social media plays in the business world today. This award is here to experience, promote, recognise and celebrate the time, effort and hard work that is needed to create an online presence.

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, your business must be located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• The business must have been trading for one full financial year.

Individual Awards

This award will recognise the achievements of an individual that has made an outstanding contribution to their business and industry through dedication and hard work. Someone who has significantly contributed toward the economy and development of the Mid West region as well as shown skills in leadership and management. This person can be the owner or one of the senior leadership/management team.

Entry Criteria

• To enter this category, you must be working within a business that is located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
• This business must have been trading for a minimum of 12 months.

This award is aimed at recognising customer service champions, these individuals demonstrate true passion for customer service excellence in everything that they do, and inspire work colleagues with their zeal and commitment.

This award takes into account all winners from the individual award categories and is awarded to someone with an exceptional attitude to service with nothing being too much trouble for their customers.

Please note that entrants cannot directly nominate for this award. The winner of this award is selected from the Business Excellence Category winners within the individual Customer Service categories.

A key industry in the Mid West, is the growing area in Gastronomy. And with it, comes individuals who are passionate about what they do. This award is designed to recognise outstanding individuals who are part of creating the magic in dining atmosphere and experience for patrons. Applicants for this category should show particular focus on offering a strong understanding of customer service, a unique customer experience, their presentation, acknowledgment and greeting. Selling skills, overall service levels, customer interaction, meeting customer expectations and product knowledge.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, the entrant must be working within a business that is located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
  • The business must have been trading for a minimum of one full financial year.

This person demonstrates a commitment to providing excellent customer service within the tourism industry. The award is to recognise their dedication to regional awareness, economy, development, and local knowledge.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, the entrant must be working within a business that is located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
  • The business must have been trading for a minimum of one full financial year.

This individual demonstrates the following criteria within the health, trade, education, farming or business sectors. Their presentation, acknowledgement and greeting, how their customer service adds value to our economy by using selling skills, service levels, interaction with customers, meeting customer expectations and product knowledge.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, the entrant must be working within a business that is located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
  • The business must have been trading for a minimum of one full financial year.

Retail is tough, but the savvy are succeeding. This award recognises those employees that have gone beyond the bricks and mortar to offer customers a shopping experience they come back for. Applicants for this category should provide an exceptional and unique customer experience, through their acknowledgment and greeting and how their customer service adds value to our economy. Selling skills, overall service levels, customer interaction, meeting customer expectations and product knowledge.

Entry Criteria

  • To enter this category, the entrant must be working within a business that is located and/or operating in the Mid West Region.
  • The business must have been trading for a minimum of one full financial year.
