The awards are open exclusively to businesses and individuals that meet the eligibility criteria. The MWCCI relies on awards coordinators to assure eligibility, however the head judge will reserve the right to determine final eligibility during the judging process.
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR An employer or employee who has significantly contributed toward the economy and development of the Mid West region as well as shown skills in leadership and management.

Overall winner of all Business Categories
MICRO BUSINESS The business must have 0-2 employees, including those that earns an income or drawings. This business may operate either at home or rent any premises other than your home, regardless whether there is a shop front.
SMALL BUSINESS
The business must employ fewer than five staff members (full-time or equivalent) at the time of your entering your local awards.
MEDIUM BUSINESS
The business must employ six to fifteen staff members (full-time or equivalent) employees at the time of entering your local awards.
LARGE BUSINESS
The business must employ over sixteen (16) staff members (full-time or equivalent) employees at the time of entering your local awards.
FRANCHISE BUSINESS
The business must be part of a franchise and carry out all business activities in-line with the requirements of your franchise agreement, as long as the core business nominated operates within the Mid West.
ABORIGINAL ENGAGEMENT The business employs Aboriginal people and has supportive relationships with Aboriginal people, their businesses and communities.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
The business must be able to show that it has made significant contribution to its local community. The award is to recognise a business whose community involvement is not the actual focus of its operations; it is about acknowledging the additional efforts made to support the local community.
APPRENTICE SUPPORT
The business must employ, support and encourage training through an apprenticeship, internship and or traineeships.
NOT FOR PROFIT
Open to any Not for Profit or Charity based business in the Mid West.
TOURISM EXCELLENCE
This award recognises tourism operators who provide a unique or exceptional visitor experience.
Adding value and vibrancy toward the Mid West tourism industry and showcasing
our region.
MEDIA & MARKETING
This business must be an active contributor toward business growth through using marketing tools and entrepreneurial approaches with local, state or national media
INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARDS CATEGORIES
HOSPITALITY – This individual must demonstrate the following criteria within the hospitality industry- Their presentation, acknowledgement and greeting, how their customer service adds value to our economy and using selling skills, service levels, interaction with customers, meeting customers expectations and product knowledge.
RETAIL – This individual must demonstrate the following criteria within the retail industry – Their presentation, how their customer service adds value to the economy by using selling skills, acknowledgement and greeting, service levels, product knowledge, interaction with customers and meeting their expectations.
SERVICE – This individual must demonstrate the values of best practice, customer service and product knowledge within their service industry including – health, trade, education and farming.
TOURISM OPERATOR – This person must be able to demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent customer service within the tourism industry. The award is to recognise their dedication to regional awareness, economy, development and local knowledge.
BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE OVERALL – The overall Customer Services combined will determine the outcome of the overall winner.
