CEO UPDATE – 7 August 2018

CEO UPDATE – 7 August 2018

Dear Members,

Wow the weather has been wet and windy and I know farmers are happy to see lots of moisture,  but really we have had enough for the moment.  Memberships have been rolling in and I thank you all for rejoining the chamber,  for without memberships we would not be able to run,  organise events, advocate on your behalf and make sure the chamber is at almost every discussion to the benefit of our members.  We are not funded through the government and rely on our own means for funding.

Last week I attended the Geraldton Tourism meeting which is the Tourism Cluster,  this group has been busy developing strategy to present to government and stakeholders on development and infrastructure of the industry,  and making sure that tourism bodies are constantly reminded on opportunities that exist in our local region including the Abrolhos Islands.

We wish Di Gilliland who has retired from Master Builders Geraldton,  Di has been the force at Master Builders for over 15years,  we wish her well for her future and hope she finds enough to keep her busy.

Our Business After Hours Hosts are now booked till June next year.  Thanks to Mel who has put in a great amount of work,  but also to the hosts who have seen the value on hosting a networking event.  If you would like to host the June ( end of financial year) BAH please call Mel at the chamber.   We have a number of events coming up in the next couple of weeks,  a Marketing in Tourism event at City Hive on Tuesday 14th Aug 5.30- 7.30pm,  this should give you some good ideas which you can implement in your business.  Remember Tourism is everyones business.  Wed & Thursday 15th & 16th August is the Mingenew Show is on,  its certainly worth a visit,  the Chamber will be visiting on the 15th.

I mentioned to Renee at Flow Vitality that guests will pay in person by 15th August to  confirm their attendance and Renee will take note of names as well.
