The end of October is looming up and before we know it Christmas will be here. What a full-on time we are having at the chamber, last Wednesday in conjunction with Progress Mid West I accompanied members of the Marine Cluster for meeting and tours of businesses at the Australian Marine Complex. It was amazing to see how vast the area was and the complexity of shipbuilding and engineering being undertaken. I must thank Pieter Vorster from Progress Mid West for his organisation and driving skills. It was good to be able to identify some opportunities for our local businesses and this is now being worked on further.
Thursday saw a 5am start as a guest of the Meenangu Wajarri Aboriginal Corporation being driven out to Wooleen Station in the Murchison to witness the largest land title determination in WA. Many many Wajarri mob gathered and the judge gave his verdict. This was a significant moment for the Wajarri people for they are now the recognised owners of a large area, inc the site of the Square Kilometre Antenna project. I thank Julie Hogben, CEO of Meenangu for affording me the honour to be present at this event.
